Dec. 12, 1964 - Wife Makes One Last Bid For Husband's Freedom. He Was Arrested By President Tshombe's Bodyguard In Congo: Mrs Liesel Scotland leaves London this morning to fly to Bonn - in a bid to see Congo President Moise Tshombe who is in the city for talks with West German diplomats. Mrs Scotland is to ask the President to intervene to obtain the release of her husband businessman Hugh Scotland - who was arrested by the president's personal bodyguard as he was about to fly out of Stanleyville after the massacre. Mrs. Scotland had flown in from Kenya - where she interviewed President Jomo Kenyatta - who - as a result of her pleading - made two telegram appeals to President Tschombe on her behalf. The rebels because he was with them when the Government forces freed the whites still alive - but Mrs Scotland says he was only with them for journalistic reasons.
