Muffin Man, Derek Hanson, in Drury Lane, London

Sep. 09, 1976 - An old London Custom is revived in Drury Lane: remember the good old days when Muffins were called in London streets. Today the Muffin Man, dressed in authentic traders costume, came back to haunt London's famous Drury Lane - the original Muffin Lane - or so the rhyme goes. Homepride Bakeries, who have their head offices in Drury Lane, were heralding the start of this year's Muffin Season (from October to March) with a Muffin man ringing his handbell and chanting his tasty wares in the portico of the famous Drury Lane Theatre. He was giving away free samples to passers by in Drury Lane. Photo shows a resident of Drury Lane looks out of her window as Mr. Derek Hanson, of Walthamstow - the Muffin Man rings his handbell and chants his wares today
