Munitions recovered from Hengsteysee reservoir, Germany

May 24, 1955 - These munitions lay in water only a few meters deep in the Hengsteysee reservoir on the Ruhr river, Germany. They had been there since the end of the second world war, thrown into the sea by the German army to hide them. The dangerous thing about them is that people often come to the city for recreational activities and could easily come in contact with them. Pictured here are some workers piling up the dredged munitions
