Jul. 22, 1976 - The 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Rumania's Nadia Comaneci the new queen of gymnasts Nadia Comaneci, the 14-year old Rumanian girl, is the new queen of world gymnastics. She destroyed the Russian stranglehold on this title, dethroning the Munich champion, Ludmila Tourischeva. The little Rumanian scored a maximum ten out of ten on the beam and the bars to win the gold medal with 39.75 points last night to total 79.275 out of a possible 80.
