Jan. 01, 1955 - Operation Snowdrop. Planes In Rescue Work In Snowbound Scotland. The Navy and RAF were equal to the many relief calls which were pouring in from snowbound villages in Northern Scotland. Naval and Air Force planes flew over Scotland's desolate wastes all day, delivering food, evacuating the sick and seeking out SOS messages in the snow.
