Navy and RAF in food drop operation, Scotland

Jan. 19, 1955 - Naval Helicopters take supplies to Scottish Villages cut off by snow.: A great combined air, sea and land operation yesterday brought relief to the snowbound northern counties of Scotland. Helicopters and other planes flew all day dropping food and medical supplies to beleaguered villages. Bettyhill, one of the villages cut off in snow-covered Northern Scotland was relieved by a naval helicopter yesterday. It arrived just in time. The crew found the villagers with little coal, no electricity, and a broken water supply. Photo shows the naval helicopter surrounded by some of the villagers of Bettyhill after landing with supplies yesterday
