Nenko Nenkov, Bulgarian dancer, in London, political asylum
1955 - Dance Show Star Says I Ran To Freedom'.: Request Asylum In Britain After Leaving Dance Company: Nenko Nenkov star dancer from Bulgaria was in London last night - after asking for political asylum in this country. He was a member of the Bulgarian State Song and Dance Company appearing at the Winter Garden Theatre - and escaped last Sunday. He is the second person to get away from the Company - and when they were in Paris Anton Dimitrov left them. Nenkov's move has cut short the company's European tour - for plans to go to Hollywood have been dropped - and when the show ends at the end of next week, the Company is to return direct to Sofia. Nenkov claims that the part has been guarded throughout the tour - and that he was lucky to have been able to escape.
