Aug. 08, 1969 - Young people from all nations find Amsterdam attractive.: This year Amsterdam is a very attractive place for young people from all nations. Their centre is the National Liberation Monument at the Dam in Amsterdam, opposite the Royal Palace. They are sitting on the steps of the monument by day and night sleeping in the sleeping bags at night and sitting in the sun in day-time. At 6 o'clock in the morning they are knocked up by the police, and cleaning men spray the steps, after which they take their seats again. Middle class and conservative people are shocked by the fact that the (monthly long haired) youngsters occupy the Liberation Monument.
