Netherlands - Norway - Sweden
Aug. 08, 1969 - This year Amsterdam is a very attractive place for young people from all countries: Their centre is the National Liberation Monument at the Dam in Amsterdam opposite the Royal Palace. They are sitting on the steps of the monument day and night, sleeping in their sleeping-bags in the night and sitting in the sun in day time. At 6 o'clock in the morning they are knocked up by the police and cleaning-man spout clean the steps. Then they take their seats again. Middle-class and conservative people are shocked by the fact that the (most long-haired) youngsters occupy the Liberation Monument.
