New Cunard cruise liner Q4

1967 - Secrets of the Q4 revealed.:The shape, colours and others details of the new Cunarder were revealed yesterday for the first time. The world's fastest and most powerful twin screw liner, Cunard's Q4 will have more open deck space than any other passenger ship. Two thirds the tonnage of the Queens, she will carry the same number of passengers in greater comfort and at the same cruising speed - but will do it on half the fuel consumption. The new Cunarder will be the largest ship capable of passing through the Panama and Suez canals for world wide cruising. Restaurants high in the ship with sea views for all the 2, 000 passengers is one of the new liner's unique features. The 58, 000 ton liner will be launched by the Queen in September. Photo shows Close up of the Q4's unusual funnel. Twenty different designs were tested in the wind tunnel to produce the most efficient funnel ever fitted on a ship. Efficiency is combined with clear lines and a pleasing general appearance
