New floating stretcher demonstrated at Zandvoort

Aug. 08, 1956 - New Floating Stretcher Demonstrated In Holland. For Transfer Of Patients In Rough Seas: A new floating stretcher was demonstrated at Zandvoort on the North Sea recently. The idea is for the stretcher to be used by crews of hospital ships for the transfer of patients to the ship in case of bad weather. If the hospital ship cannot get close enough to the other vessel for the patient to be transferred he can be fixed to the floating stretcher and hoisted aboard the hospital ship. Photo shows scene during the demonstration at Zandvoort. The Dutch Hospital ship De Hoop is equipped with the new stretchers
