New school building with amphitheatre and sundial, Germany
Jul. 07, 1963 - A sundial as rest-court and an amphitheatre as great hall for the pupils of a new primary school near Goettingen (Wuerttemberg). Imagination and nobleness of the builders set off this school of the other school buildings. For the price of 1, 8 million D-marks there has been built a two-floor-building, whose wings are ordered around an open court, which is used in fine weather as a great hall. Upon the broad steps, which have been made is the shape of an amphitheatre, 200 pupils are able to take part together. The rest court has been made like a great sundial. An obelisk sends its shadow to the plaster-mosaion of the court and the zodiac star signs and lines of time. This is an excellent apparatus for astronomical lessons for the pupils and also for the teachers. Our picture shows:- the aula (great hall) of the new school uilding
