New self-loading high velocity rifle demonstrated

Jan. 01, 1954 - New Rifle Demonstrated: A demonstration of Rifle Self Loading FN30 - the new rifle developed by the Belgian Company Fabrique d'armes de Guerre of Liege. was given today. It was originally designed to fire the low velocity small calibre.28 inch ammunition developed in the UK. It has since been modified to fire the high velocity.30 inch universal round which has been produced to meet the Military Characteristics agreed by NATO countries. The rifle in the various stages of its development has been subjected to extensive Technical and User trials in this country and the United States. Photo shows Corporal John E. Heymer, of the Royal Fusiliers, who lives at the Elephant and Castle, demonstrating the new rifle, at the Depot of the Royal Fusiliers at the Tower of London today
