New street cleaning machine demonstrated, London

Jul. 07, 1959 - New kind of suction street cleaning machine demonstrated in London West End streets may soon be vacuum cleaned with a remarkable new street cleaning machine. Outside Marylebone Town Hall this morning there was a demonstration of this revolutionary machine for the first time in this country. It removes every form of litter commonly found on the pavement and operates on a centrifugal separation system, the litter and heavy dust, grit, sand, etc, is collected before the fan and the lighter dust is separated and trapped in a separate compartment. It is powered by a 1 3/4 hp petrol motor and costs about £250. Photo Shows The new street cleaning machine being demonstrated in Marylebone today
