New transport equipment demonstrated, Bulford Camp
Feb. 26 New army transport equipment demonstrated. Lightweight trolley for land and water use. A demonstration was held at Bulford Camp, Wiltshire, yesterday of three types of load carrying trolleys designed by the 1st Infantry Division to move heavy mortar detachments across country and over water obstacles. The trolley is in the form of a tubular metal frame with a galvanised wire basket and fitted with two pneumatic tyred wheels which can be detached. They can be turned into water transport by attaching two buoyancy bags made of plastic and covered with canvas. These bags are inflated and fixed to the trolleys with the aid of webbing straps. The trolleys can easily carry 3 to 4 cwt over rough country. Photo shows the trolley can be hauled across a water obstacle by one man with ease
