New uniform by Norman Hartnell for London policewomen

Sep. 14, 1967 - New Uniform For London Policewomen. The hallmark of Norman Hartnell's design for the new uniform to be worn by the women of the Metropolitan police is its combination of elegance and comfort with utility. He has managed to accomplish this while maintaining the necessary aspect of legal authority in a less military and more feminine style. The cloak to be worn in place of the greatcoat adds an imaginative touch and the new cap designed by Mme Simone Mirman completes the fashionable picture of the modern, efficient woman of the Metropolitan Police. Photo Shows: WPC Ethel Walker wearing the new style cap, with a black bow necktie
