New uniforms for scouts of different ages

Jun. 10, 1966 - New Look For Scouts: The Chief Scout, Sir Charles Maclean yesterday announced proposals for a new look in the Boy Scout movement in Britain. The word boy will go and Wolf Cubs will be known as Cub Scouts. Senior and Rover Scouts will disappear in favour of Venture Scouts aged 8-11, shorts will no longer be part of the uniform. They will be replaced for Scouts aged 11 to 16 by mushroom-coloured trousers, slightly tapered and without turn-ups. Photo shows Here are the new Scout uniforms to be worn from Oct. 1 next year.
