Oct. 10, 1957 - Toscanini's Portrait - Painted To Music. Nicholas Egon And the Man He Had Never Met: Nicholas Egon the famous portrait painter is now putting the finishing touches to his posthumous portraits of Toscanini the famous Italian conductor. Egon had never met Toscanini but to gain inspiration into the moods of the conductor - he played records of his music the whole time he was painting. Egon has painted four portraits in all. The first three taking several weeks - and then to a recording of Toscanini's Verdi Requiem - the final one was completed in an hour. All four of the portraits are to be exhibited at the Royal Festival Hall next year.
