Nigel Short playing in British Chess championships
Aug. 08, 1977 - 12 YEAR-OLD NIGEL SHORT, YOUNGEST PLAYER EVER TO TAKE PART IN THE BRITISH-CHESS FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIPS. The 64th Annual Congress and Championships of the British Chess Federation opened at the Corn Exchange, Brighton today. And taking part is NIGEL SHORT of Atherton in Lancashire who becomes at the age of 12 the youngest player ever to compete in the British Championships.
