Nigerian students protest against French influence

Apr. 18 Nigerian students protest French backing of Biafra: There was a nationwide student demonstration in all major cities of Nigeria, against French interference in the secessionist struggle. In a memorandum to be submitted to the Federal Nigerian head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, they stated that the French have stepped up their supplies of arms and mercenaries when the Biafran regime was on the brink of collapse, they demanded breaking diplomatic ties and nationalisation of French properties. In Kadina the windows of the French owned CFAO company were broken. Photo shows college students from Zaria, Samaru and Kano demonstrating in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria
