Aug. 08, 1978 - Jeremy Thorpe charged with conspiracy to murder: Jeremy Thorpe the former leader of the Liberal Party and three other men were charged today with conspiracy to murder Norman Scott, former male model. The other three are David Holmes, an ex-joint deputy treasurer of the party, John Le Mesurier, a Welsh businessman, and George Deakin, an nightclub owner. They were charged this morning at Minehead police station, on the Somerset coast, which is the closest station to where the shooting incident, in which Norman Scott's dog was killed, took place.
