Nude statue in hospital grounds, SW London
Dec. 07, 1953 - Neighbours Complain About Nude Statue In Hospital Grounds: People living in St. James's Drive, Balham, SW London, have complained to the authorities -following the installation in the grounds of the entrance to St. James Hospital - of a life -size statue of a nude man. The new out-patients department of the hospital is to be opened on Friday by the Minister of Health. The statue has been draped and undraped mysteriously during the past few days, and now some of the local people have asked the authorities to remove the statue - as they say it is unfit for public view. The statue cost £500. Photo shows the statue, which is named Recovery in the grounds of the new hospital entrance
