Octogenarian Miss Annie Gilbert, original Annie of Annie's bar in the house of Commons, returned to the palace of Westminster last night, to take a drink with old friends at the opening of the new Annie's Bar, Toasting her are the speaker, Dr Harold King (centre) Mr. Edward Heath, leader of the opposition, and Captain Robert Maxwell, labour MP for Buckingham and chairman of the catering Sub-Committee at the house (right) Miss Gilbert, who has been housebound with arthritis (right) the past three years at her home in Sutton. surrey had, worked at the house for 38 years. only leaving in 1941 after part of the building, including the bar, was destroyed changing Rome, is open to Mps. Lobby correspondents, officers of the house, and journalists engaged in sketch writing at the house
