Oil Tanker

Jan. 29, 1953 - Britain Warns - Tanker will be Stopped. The British Embassy in Rome recently warned the Italian Government that Britain considers the voyage of the Italian tanker Miriella with 5, 000 tons of Persian oil to be illegal, and is prepared to take all measures to uphold the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company's rights. The Miriella has left Abadan, and is expected to make for Italy, where the cargo is likely to be processed by a refinery in some free port- possibly Ganon. Picture Shows: The tanker Miriella, seen at Abadan recently, during the loading of the 5, 000 tons of Persian Oil
