1953 - Twelve-wheeled oil tanker crashes in village street driver killed: A huge twelve-wheeled oil tanker lorry crashed down the main street of Lambourn, Berks, yesterday-ripping into the corner well of the village sweet shop tearing down on empty 14th. Century cottage next door- and into a jeweller's and antique dealers shop-ending up in the gutter and spraying showers of petrol over the road. The accident happened when the drive Reg Bungay lost control of teh vehicle as it tore down the hill to the village.
