1978 - Oil Hits Holiday Beaches: About fifteen miles of Eas Anglian Holiday Beaches were polluted yesterday by thick black engine oil from wreck of the Greek Tanker, Eleni V. 12, 000. The oil Came ashore between Winverton, Norfolk, and Lowestoft. The eleni was sliced in two on Saturday after a collision with the French Merchant Vessel Roseline1 16, 000 - the bow section of the tanker has been beached on a sand bank some four miles from lowestoft by anchors which they hope will stop it was drifting and breaking-up and spilling the rest of its 3, 000 tons still on board.
