Feb. 02, 1966 - WORLD'S LARGEST SHIP SAILS: The 150, 000-ton Tokyo Maru, the world's largest tanker, is shown leaving Yokohama, Japan, on her maiden voyage to Saudi Arabia to load with crude oil. The huge ship, 306.5 metres long, 47.5 metres wife, and 24 metres deep, has a top speed of 16.75 knots with a full cargo of petroleum. The ship was launched on November 27th, 1965, and completed on February 1, 1966. The owners are the Tokyo Tanker Co. and it was built by the Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries at their Yokohama shipyard
