Mar. 22 Okinawa Day Demonstrations: Japanese unionists, students, and members of pacifist organisations, stage demonstrations in Tokyo to mark Okinawa Day on the 18th anniversary of the San Francisco Peace Treaty which put the Ryukyu island under US control. The demonstrators demand the immediate return of Okinawa to Japan. There were some minor clashes with the police
