Oleg Popov, Russian Circus Clown, with dog at Wembley

Jul. 07, 1971 - World-famous Russian clown selects a British dog for his star act at the Empire Pool - Wembley: World-famous Russian clown, Oleg Popov - the Charlie Chaplin of the Soviet Union, urgently needs the services of a clever British dog for his star act with the renowned Moscow State Circus at the Empire Pool, Wembley, from Aug 4th to Sept. 11th. Popov was unable to bring his own beloved dog Oleg Junior, from the Soviet Union because of Britain's stringent quarantine regulations. So today the Wembley authorities have come to Popov's rescue by securing some 40 dogs from all parts of the country to audition for the Russian masted. The celebrated clown is keeping his fingers crossed that he will find the ideal four-legged friend.
