Jan. 01, 1972 - Play-Street For Amusement At The Olympic Oberwiesenfeld': Along the artificial Lake in the Olympic Area You will find a new attraction: a long play-street. There you can choose between street-theater and dumb-show, acrobats and magicians, pop-music or jazz. Something quite special are the objects for everyone to Play with like the plastic-art. The arrangement, which will be presented officially to the public on August 26th, cost 6.6 millions DM. Altogether 543 artists from 19 countries take part at these performances in the play The Olympic Flame Ceremony At The Ancient Site Of Olympia In Greece: the Olympic Flame began its 8, 000-mile journey from the Olive Groves of Olympia to Sapporo Japan, where the Olympic winter Games will be held in February. The impressive ceremony of lighting the flame was performed by the High Priestess - portrayed by a Greek actress - in the Olympic stadium. Later it was handed over by her to the first torch bearer who took it to the border of the Olympic Village. From there it was taken by car to Athens, where a Japanese delegation escorted it to Tokyo.
