Dec. 12, 1958 - CHRIS BRASHER ENGAGED TO SHIRLEY BLOOMER. The Olympic Gold Medallist, Chris Brasher has become engaged to Miss Shirley Bloomer, the 24-year old lawn tennis player. Brasher, who is 30, won the steeplechase event at Melbourne in 1956 and in 1957 was elected Sportsman of the Year.
