Aug. 08, 1960 - The Olympic Torch is on its way. Greek Girls as Ancient Priestesses: The Olympic flame was rekindled at Olympica, Southern Greece today - to be carried by a relay of runners and by ship to Rome - for the opening of the 1960 Olympic Games. In accordance with tradition the torch was lighted by the rays of the sun. Photo shows The scene as the Flame is lighted with in attendance Greek women in clothes of the ancient Priestesses.
