During the final of the women's 100 metres Butterfly swimming event 14 year old American swimmer, Carolyn Wood appeared to collapse in the water, and a judge jumped in fully clothed to her assistance. At the time, Carolyn was close behind Miss Schuler, of U.S A. who won the race.
