Sep. 01, 1960 - Olympic Games In Rome. Judge Dives in to Assist swimmer. During the final of the women's 100 metres Butterfly swimming event 14 year old American swimmer, Carolyn Wood appeared to collapse in the water, and a judge jumped in fully clothed to her assistance. At the time, Carolyn was close behind Miss Schuler, of U.S A. who won the race.
