Aug. 08, 1964 - The Olympic torch arrives in Istanbul.: The 1964 Olympic Torch - lit at Olympia in greece - arrived in Istanbul on its way to Tokyo. It was greeted by the Turkish National Olympic Committee and was carried by a relay of Turkish athletes from the airport to the Municipality Palace where it burned overnight.
