Oct. 10, 1968 - Olympic Games in Mexico. David Hemery Receives Congratulations from John Carlos on Winning Gold Meda. David Hemery (Great Britain), on right who won the Men's 400 Metres Hurdles Final at the Olympic Games - is shown being congratulated by John Carlos (U.S.A), who is admiring David's Gold Medal. It was announced today that Carlos. who received a bronze medal in the Men's 200 Metres event, and fellow American, Tommie Smith - who won the Gold in 200 Metres event - had been suspended and ordered to remove themselves from the Olympic Village because of the Black Power incident on Wednesday when they received their Olympic medals
