Sep. 09, 1971 - Pre-Olympic Competition In Munich (West-Germany) For the first time. there was a general trial of the Olympic route. There was international competition of the marathon runners and of the walkers, who went a distance of 50 kilometres. Favourites of the marathon-race were the Japanese, who also became the winners. For the first time electric cars without exhaust were used. They are vehicles made by the companies Messerschmitt-Bölkow and BMW, which run with batteries for about 65 miles.
