Aug. 08, 1972 - The 1972 Olympic rowing and regatta course was constructed in Oberschleissheim, roughly 4 1/2 miles north of the Olympic Park. 81.2 million cubic feet of earth had to be moved. There is room for 8, 000 spectators in the stands at the finish and for 25, 000 along the course which is approximately 1.4 miles long and 460 feet wide
