Feb. 02, 1976 - Britain's John Curry Wins a Gold Medal at the Winter Olympic Games at Innsbruck: Britain's John Curry, 26-year-old European champion, won the men's figure skating gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck last night. It is 12 years since Britain won a gold medal in the Winter Games, when Tony Nash and Robin Dixon won the two-men bobsleigh event. Curry, who comes from Birmingham, is the first Briton to win the men's event in the history of the Games.
