Otto Bille, puppet jubilee, Munich, Germany
Dec. 19 Otto Bille from Munich can celebrate a jubilee on May 27th 1981: Since 35 years he is a puppet player - There are many figures of well-known German fairy tales in Otto Bille's workshop in Munich/West Germany. The puppet player can celebrate his 35-year-professional jubilee on May 27th. 1981. 52-year-old Otto Bille came to this profession because since eight generations - more exact since 1794 - his family is practising the puppet play. Together with his wife Otto Bille has arranged this marionette-ensemble of some hundred members, and also together they are supervising the troupe. All the puppets of the allround-artist are made by himself; the heads are carved of lime-wood and he has also painted them. The clothes are made by the married couple and they have sewn those costumes made to measure in proper style on their own sewing-machine after Mr. Bille and his wife have informed themselves about it in museums, theatre-funds and other sources. Nearly all well-known fairytales of the Brothers Grimm can be seen. He performs them in cinemas, parsonages, schools, restaurants, old people's homes etc. not only in Munich but also in the whole Bavaria, always accompanied and assisted by his wife Annelore. On the day of his 35-year jubilee, Otto Bille will play a new fairy tale, which he will perform in school classes
