Oxford University boat race crew in new outfits
Mar. 03, 1975 - Oxford Boat Race Crew In New Outfits: The Oxford University boat-race crew were seen for the first time in their new look Hardy Amies styles outfits, when they took to the towpath at Putney today. The outfits have been tailored and donated to the Oxford Boat Club by Hepworths, the multiple tailors, Hardy Amies was asked to update their traditional blazers, made of heavy blanket cloth and their white flannels. Instead, the world's most fashionably dressed oarsmen will wear - by the river - medium weight Oxford Blue blazers with their traditional blue braiding; silver grey wool worsted Oxford bags with single pleats, narrow 1 waist belts and 25 bottoms with deep turn ups. They will be worn with 7feet long Oxford blue embroidered scarves and open necked white shirts. Photo shows The Oxford crew wearing their new outfits on the towpath at Putney today.
