Feb. 02, 1965 - Pop singer - P.J. Proby creates controversy. Objections to his Split Pants routine.. Pop singer P.J. Proby was banned yesterday by the management of the Northampton ABC Theatre after his pants had split during his performance at a Luton Theatre - as had happened previously on the stage at Walthamstow and Croydon. Last night his chauffeur refused to continue to drive him - and dropped him at a Northampton Police Station - after screaming fans had tried to mob him in the Rolls Royce Car. The chauffeur then drove off. It has been suggested that Proby's work permit which expires on February 23rd. should not be renewed. Photo shows P.J.
