Feb. 28 Britain inspects her atomic defences and finds women ready In the biggest civil defence gathering to be held here since the end of World War II, 1, 000 British volunteer workers were inspected recently in London by Britain's Home Secretary, Sir David Maxwell Fyfe. Also taking part in the parade was a column of 63 vehicles of the Auxiliary Fire Service of the London Fire Brigade, carrying the latest appliances for fighting the kind of fires to be expected in the event of atom bomb attacks, and a special Experimental Mobile Column of 50 vehicles equipped to assist areas under heavy attack.
