Jan. 01, 1965 - Gordon Walker Beaten In By-Election Sensational Setback For The Government: The Government suffered a shattering defeat in last night's by-election at Leyton - when the Foreign Secretary - Mr. Patrick Gordon Walker was defeated by 205 votes - in what was hitherto a safe seat. Mr. Gordon Walker was defeated by the Conservative candidate Ronald Buxton who polled 16, 544 against his 16, 339.
