1960 - Montmartre To Have New Museum: After years of negotiations the museum of Old Montmartre, previously installed in a tumbledown house near the Montmartre Cemetery, will open next June in the old building once occupied by members of Moliere's troupe at 12 Rue Cortot, at the top of the Butte Montmartre. The New Museum is located in the rear of the 17th century farmhouse where Degas, Renoir, Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo and many other artists had their studios. The museum's exhibits consist of thousands of books, manuscripts, engravings, drawings and photographs retracing the history of the Commune Libre De Montmartre and the famous personalities associated with it.
