Dec. 09, 1976 - Actor John Alderton Helps To Launch Carol Marathon. Actor John Alderton and his actress wife, Pauline Collins, today joined the War On Want staff and girls from the Mount Carmel School in Holloway, for the launch of War On Want's 1976 Carol Marathon. Each year a letter signed by Harry Secombe is sent to schools around the country asking children to go carol singing locally for the War on Want at Christmas. The Marathon was launched on the steps of St. Martin-in-the-Field, Trafalgar Square.
