Payroll snatch in Lewisham, SE London
Nov. 08, 1957 - £11, 500 pay snatch in London- car rammed by Stolen Van - Four bandits - masked - ambushed and rammed a pay toll car at the junction of Morden Hill and Morden Grove, Lewisham today. The car was used by officials of Messrs. Elliot Brothers (London) engineers - and was carrying officials of the firm with the payroll from the bank - when it was rammed by a stolen van - and forced on to the pavement. The bandits jumped from the van - and coshed Mr. Frank Hadley and Mr. Terence Oval in the car - snatching the bag from the wrist of the latter - and slashed his face. They made off in a powerful car.
