Payroll snatch in Lewisham, SE London
Nov. 08, 1957 - 11, 500 Pay Snatch In London. Car Rammed By Stolen Van. Four bandits today ambushed and rammed a payroll car at the junction of Morden Hill, and Morden Grove, Lewisham, London, today. The car was used by officials of Messrs. Elliott Brothers (London) electrical machine engineers to carry the pay from the bank - and was rammed and forced on to a pavement - by the bandits stolen vehicle - a dark blue van. The bandits - masked - jumped from the can - coshed Mr. Frank Hoadley and Mr. Terence Oval in the car - snatched the pay roll bag from the wrist of the latter - who was also slashed in the face - and made off in a powerful car.
