Peace campaigners demonstrate outside Swaffham court

Dec. 12, 1958 - 37 Say They Won't Give Peace Bond: Forty-four rocket site marchers were ordered yesterday to enter into a recognisance to keep the peace for a year. But 37 of them said they could not agree to the order. Col. J.H. Boag, chairman of the magistrates at Swaffham, Norfolk told them: Such recognisances are to be entered into within seven days. On failure to comply with the order, you will go to prison for 14 days'. Thirty-two men and 13 women were charged with obstructing the police.
