Peter Gadsden elected new Lord Mayor of London
Oct. 10, 1979 - London's new Lord Mayor elected. Peter Gadsden, the son of a parson born in Alberta, Canada, today became the 652nd Lord Mayor of London. At 50, Peter Haggerston Gadsden is one of the youngest men to achieve the office as the first citizen of the square mile.
