Peter Ustinov, actor, and Franz Josef Strauss, politician
Jan. 01, 1981 - Munich, West Germany: Karl Valentin Medal for the British actor Peter Ustinov Two well-known carnival fools are showing themselves here, side by side, the politician Franz Josef Strauss and artist Peter Ustinov. The world famous British actor came to Munich to receive the Karl Valentin medal at the weekend (January 10th and 11th 1981), being given to a Grandmaster of Humour (like Karl Valentin, after whom this medal is named). With Peter Ustinov, the successful actor, film director, writer and ambassador of the World Children Welfare UNICEF there was found a worthy carrier of the medal without a doubt. The laudation of this festival of Narhalla was made by the Bavarian Minister-President and chairman of the CSU Franz Josef Strauss. Ops: Franz Josef Strauss, left (who got the Karl Valentin medal years ago) and Peter Ustinov, right, wearing the Carl Valentin medal. Keystone West Germany
